From May 23, 2025 to January 11, 2026, the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum in Getaria invites visitors to step into an extraordinary conversation between two of fashion’s most influential voices: Cristóbal Balenciaga and Demna, the current creative director of the house that bears his name.

Titled “Las Sutilezas de un Diálogo”, this is no ordinary exhibition. It’s a carefully curated visual exchange, staged across six thematic sections, that explores the enduring power of silhouette, structure, and restraint.

Featuring 31 garments, the show places archival pieces by Balenciaga side by side with contemporary creations by Demna, revealing the shared language between master and modernist.

What makes this exhibition truly exceptional is its focus on the details, the cut of a sleeve, the sculpting of a collar, the architectural grace of a black dress.

These elements speak volumes about the values both designers share: precision, purity, and a quiet defiance of convention. With an emphasis on monochrome and minimalist presentation, each piece is treated like a work of art.

This is haute couture as a conversation, between eras, visions, and the hands that shape fabric into art.

Who we are

We are a small but strong team led by Marta Muñoz Recarte and Glòria Pou. Both of us had long-standing careers in the art world until 2013, when our passion for travel led us to create THE REAL THING.

We are based in Madrid and Barcelona, where we design and oversee your journeys. We have a close-knit network of choice collaborators that make us the really top DMC we are. They include hoteliers with class, tour guides with cachet and chauffeurs with an eye for detail and impeccable timing; people who hold the keys to historic and unique buildings, art curators, cultural ambassadors and personal shoppers; contacts at the trendiest restaurants and bars of our cities, musicians, DJs, flamenco dancers, chefs, sommeliers, bartenders… Farmers and winegrowers, ceramicists, cheesemakers, sports instructors, massage therapists, fishermen, percebeiras (goose barnacle hunters), sailboat captains, jugglers, magicians… Want to meet them?
