Caminito del Rey (King’s Little Pathway) is a hanging trail about 1.9 miles long and 330 feet high. Perched over a large dam close to the Guadalhorce river, the gorge used to be the only railway access to the city of Malaga from inland Andalucía.

Just one hour from Ronda, take in the breathtaking views of the Gaitanes Gorge as you follow a spectacular trail led by an expert nature guide, who brings this awe-inspiring landscape to life.

Keep your camera close and your sense of wonder wide open. From soaring birds and dramatic rock formations shaped by time, to ancient ammonite fossils embedded in stone, every step reveals nature’s artistry. And when you cross the suspended bridge, you may just rethink your claim of not being afraid of heights.

We are a small but strong team led by Marta Muñoz Recarte and Glòria Pou. Both of us had long-standing careers in the art world until 2013, when our passion for travel led us to create THE REAL THING.

We are based in Madrid and Barcelona, where we design and oversee your journeys. We have a close-knit network of choice collaborators that make us the really top DMC we are. They include hoteliers with class, tour guides with cachet and chauffeurs with an eye for detail and impeccable timing; people who hold the keys to historic and unique buildings, art curators, cultural ambassadors and personal shoppers; contacts at the trendiest restaurants and bars of our cities, musicians, DJs, flamenco dancers, chefs, sommeliers, bartenders… Farmers and winegrowers, ceramicists, cheesemakers, sports instructors, massage therapists, fishermen, percebeiras (goose barnacle hunters), sailboat captains, jugglers, magicians… Want to meet them?
