Where Galician tradition flows into timeless elegance.

Nestled alongside the gentle waters of the River Sar near Santiago de Compostela lies A Quinta da Auga, an 18th-century former paper mill turned luxury boutique hotel and spa. Once left in ruins, the property was discovered by architect María Luisa García Gil, who fell in love with its potential. Guided by her vision and determination, she undertook the restoration, transforming the abandoned mill into what is today a sanctuary of refined elegance and Galician heritage.

From the very beginning, María Luisa has been joined by her daughter, Luisa Lorenzo, now the Maître de Maison, who embodies the warmth and hospitality that define the spirit of the house. Together they created a hotel that is not only a project of architecture and design, but also one of heart, where travelers are welcomed not as clients, but as cherished guests. Their story, alongside the dedication of a loyal team that has become like family, infuses the property with a rare sense of home.
Surrounded by over a hectare of lush gardens, each of the hotel’s 45 meticulously appointed rooms offers a serene retreat, featuring artwork, antiques, and touches of French sophistication. The soothing sound of water permeates the estate, creating an ambiance of calm ideal for rejuvenation and reflection.
Dining at Restaurant Filigrana is equally exceptional, where contemporary Galician cuisine celebrates fresh, local ingredients paired with carefully selected regional wines.

A Quinta da Auga holds a special place in our hearts and has long been a team favorite, admired for its story, elegance, and warmth. Whenever we can, we love to escape for a visit to this remarkable family-run hotel.
